Rebalancing: What’s Next for the China Growth Story?

Michael Pettis, professor of finance at Guanghua School at Peking University

In this Take 15 interview, Michael Pettis reviews the growth track record of China over the past decades and discusses how rebalancing from an investment and export driven economy to a more consumption focused economy could take place going forward. He also discusses Renminbi internationalization and the impact that China’s rebalancing could have on Australia and similar commodity exporting countries.

Professor Pettis will be examining China’s role in the world economy in greater detail in his session at the 65th CFA Institute Annual Conference in Chicago on 9 May 2012. You can attend the event to hear more from Professor Pettis in person or watch a broadcast of Professor Pettis’ presentation online. Follow this blog for more updates about the conference.
