Finance made civilization possible, and London has been a global financial capital for centuries. It has dealt with sovereign debt crises and “too big to fail” entities that date back to medieval times. This week, London will host the investment industry’s largest and longest-running educational gathering of investment professionals.
On Sunday, Beyond the Numbers Sessions will offer soft skills training in a variety of personal development areas, and The Research Foundation Workshop for the Practitioner will feature presentations from Roger G. Ibbotson and Ronald N. Kahn.
On Monday, delegates will learn from experts in geopolitics, artificial intelligence (AI), and global financial markets. Technical Workshops will focus on building specific skills, and Concurrent Practitioner Sessions will explore key topics with analysis and commentary on investment trends and strategies.
Sessions on Tuesday will consider environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, as well as fintech, dynamic currency management, and other investment issues. The conference closes on Wednesday, after delegates hear from Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, chair of the board of directors at Societe Generale and former member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB).
The Forum, located in the center of the Exhibition Hall, will also provide a chance for attendees to share, learn, and engage. This year’s offerings have been expanded and enhanced to increase opportunities to connect with CFA Institute and fellow delegates, to hear firsthand about current CFA Institute initiatives, and to experience dynamic sessions on topics that include cybersecurity and cryptocurrency.
If you are unable to join the more than 1,800 investment professionals in person at ExCeL London, you can still follow the conference online. Conference Live programming, hosted by Lauren Foster and Jason Voss, CFA, will provide live online broadcasts of select sessions, exclusive speaker interviews, and discussions of current topics.
After the event, blog posts will explore speaker insights in greater detail. And video recordings of conference sessions will be added to the CFA Institute content library, where they can be used for continuing professional development.
The 72nd CFA Institute Annual Conference will be an opportunity to gain insights into today’s most critical investment issues, examine market trends, uncover new investment opportunities, and hear practical investment advice from noted economists, best-selling authors, leading researchers, and successful practitioners, as well as governmental and regulatory leaders.
All posts are the opinion of the author. As such, they should not be construed as investment advice, nor do the opinions expressed necessarily reflect the views of CFA Institute or the author’s employer.
