Alice Breheny is head of research at Nuveen, where she manages a team of analysts devoted to researching the direct property market in Europe, the United States, and Asia. She jointly runs the research and development (R&D) function, which ensures that the firm’s research is applied and remains at the forefront of product development. The R&D team identifies global, structural trends and finds appropriate opportunities for real estate investors. Ms. Breheny is a member of the Investment Committee and the Global Product Committee, ensuring that the research feeds into every stage of the investment process and product development. She is also a member of the Investment Property Forum, the Society of Property Researchers, INREV, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Ms. Breheny has a BA (Hons) in geography from the University of Southampton.
Abigail Dean is head of sustainability at Nuveen. She oversees the firm’s sustainability strategy, which positions Nuveen Real Estate as a global leader on environmental, social, and governance issues. Ms. Dean also ensures that the business is well positioned to pursue growth opportunities, while minimizing the risk of accelerated depreciation and early obsolescence. Previously, she worked at JLL, where she led sustainability for the property and asset management business, embedding it into core processes and deliverables. Particular achievements include the successful integration of sustainability into procurement and supply chain management, the rollout of a rigorous ISO 14001-certified environmental management system, and the standardization of deliverables to clients. Ms. Dean is an active member of the Better Buildings Partnership and is a member of a number of its working groups. She has also contributed to the World Green Building Council’s Better Places for People campaign, by taking part in the Health, Wellbeing and Productivity in Retail working group.
Stuart Dunbar is a partner at Baillie Gifford, where he oversees relationships with financial institutions and contributes to consultant relationships, marketing, and client servicing activities in Europe and Asia. He is a director in the Clients Department, focusing on client relationships with external financial institutions. Previously, Mr. Dunbar worked at Dresdner RCM in Hong Kong and at Aberdeen Asset Management in the United Kingdom. He earned a BA in finance and business law from the University of Strathclyde.
Tim Edwards is Managing Director of Index Investment Strategy for S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). The group provides research and commentary on S&P DJI’s entire product set, including U.S. and global equities, commodities, fixed income, and economic indices. Prior to joining S&P DJI in 2013, Tim worked for Barclays Capital, initially within fund-linked derivatives and subsequently in exchange-traded products and index-linked derivatives. Prior to that, he worked at the Royal Institution of Great Britain. Tim holds a Ph.D in pure mathematics from University College London.
Tim Gaumer, CFA, is the Global Director of Fundamental Research at Refinitiv, formerly the Financial & Risk business of Thomson Reuters. He held the same position at StarMine, a company acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2008. With more than 20 years of experience conducting fundamental analysis, Mr. Gaumer is widely regarded as an expert at helping fundamental investors apply StarMine’s innovative quantitative research in their investment process. He previously worked at several buy-side and independent research firms, as an Equity Analyst, a Portfolio Manager, and Director of Research. Mr. Gaumer holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and a graduate degree in Business Administration.
Boryana Racheva-Iotova is senior vice president and senior director of risk and quantitative analytics at FactSet. She has over 15 years of experience in building risk and quant portfolio management software solutions. Ms. Racheva-Iotova co-founded FinAnalytica and has served as global head of risk at BISAM. She also led the implementation of a Monte Carlo–based value at risk calculation to meet the Basel II requirements at SGZ Bank, as well as the development of six patented methodologies for FinAnalytica. Ms. Racheva-Iotova received the 2018 Risk Professional of the Year Award from Waters Technology for her achievements in building risk management software solutions and translating the latest academic advancements in practical applications to meet the needs of financial industry practitioners. She holds a Master of Science in Probability and Statistics from Sofia University, and a Doctor of Science, magna cum laude, from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
Yoshimasa Satoh, CFA, is vice president and product strategist/solutions specialist, APAC, at eVestment. He has been in charge of portfolio management, multi-asset investment strategy, and asset allocation model research and development throughout his career. Previously, Mr. Satoh served as a portfolio manager of quantitative investment strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and other companies. He started his career at Nomura Research Institute, where he led Nomura Securities’ equity trading technology team. Mr. Satoh is a member of the board of directors of CFA Society Japan. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Tsukuba.
Jack Sibley is a technology and innovation strategist at Nuveen. He leads Nuveen Real Estate’s initiative to embrace technological innovation, change, and disruption within its “tomorrow’s world” philosophy. Mr. Sibley’s focus includes analysis and solutions for how technology is changing what end users want from real estate, proactive engagement with PropTech startups and disruptors, and efforts seeking to leverage emerging technologies, such as big data and artificial intelligence. These efforts are integrated into Nuveen Real Estate’s investment process, driving asset selection, asset management, and portfolio resilience. Previously, he worked on the firm’s R&D team. Mr. Sibley is a member of the Cambridge University Land Society. He earned a BA, with honors, in land economy from the University of Cambridge.
Habib Subjally, ASIP, leads RBC Global Asset Management’s Global Equity team of 10 global equity specialists (sector, portfolio and risk management) and has more than 20 years of industry experience. Previously, he and his team spent eight years together at First State, managing global equities. In addition, Mr. Subjally has served as head of small- and mid-cap research at Credit Suisse and head of the global equities team at Invesco. He began his fund management career at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, where he was head of North American and global equities research and manager of the Mercury Global Titans Fund. Mr. Subjally is a Certified Chartered Accountant. He earned a BSc (Hons) from the London School of Economics.
