Paul Smith, CFA

Paul Smith, CFA, is president and CEO of CFA Institute. He leads CFA Institute and its more than 158,000 members worldwide in promoting the highest standards of education, ethics, and professional excellence in the investment profession. Mr. Smith has extensive leadership experience in the investment management industry, having held a variety of positions in major financial centers over 30 years. Previously, he worked in Hong Kong at Bank of Bermuda, later acquired by HSBC, where he was global head of alternative funds administration and was responsible for servicing 2,000 investment funds. Mr. Smith has worked for Ermitage International and Pricewaterhouse, and he founded Asia Alternative Asset Partners. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Mr. Smith holds a master’s degree in history from Oxford University.
