Roger Urwin, FSIP

Roger Urwin, FSIP, is global head of investment content at Willis Towers Watson and the cofounder of the Thinking Ahead Group. Previously, he served as global head of investment at Towers Watson. Mr. Urwin also headed the investment practice at Mercer and led the business development and quantitative investment functions at Gartmore Investment Management. His investment innovations include the origination of target date defined contribution funds, the risk budget framework, and the governance budget framework for assessing asset owner organizational effectiveness. Mr. Urwin is also the author of a number of papers on asset allocation policy, manager selection, and governance and sustainability. He is an advisory director to MSCI and served on the CFA Institute Board of Governors. Mr. Urwin is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in applied statistics from Oxford University.
